Photophobia
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-013401
An abnormal intolerance or painful hypersensitivity to light. It is a symptom of an underlying medical condition affecting the eyes or nervous system, rather than a disease itself. In neurotoxicology, photophobia can be a clinical sign resulting from exposure to certain toxic agents that affect the central nervous system, the optic nerve, or the trigeminal nerve, such as mercury or carbon disulfide.
