Photoperiod
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008910
The duration of an organism's daily exposure to light, considered as a recurring cycle of light and darkness over a 24-hour period. This environmental cue influences many physiological and behavioral processes in plants and animals, including flowering, migration, hibernation, and reproduction. Ecotoxicology studies may use controlled photoperiods to simulate seasonal conditions and assess chemical effects on these processes.
