Acyclicity
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-000213
The absence of a recurring estrous cycle in a non-pregnant, post-pubertal female mammal. This condition is characterized by a lack of the cyclical hormonal and physiological changes, such as ovulation, that are associated with reproductive readiness. Acyclicity can be a normal physiological state, as in seasonal anestrus or during lactation, or it can indicate a pathological condition or a response to toxicant exposure.
