Ovulation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008386
The process by which a mature egg (ovum) is released from the ovarian follicle into the fallopian tube, where it can be fertilized. This event is a key part of the female reproductive cycle, occurring approximately once a month in fertile women. The timing of ovulation is regulated by a surge in luteinizing hormone.
