Photophoresis
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-008911
The movement of aerosol particles in a gas due to uneven heating by incident radiation. Particles absorb light and re-emit it, creating a temperature gradient across their surface, which results in a net force. This phenomenon can influence the transport and deposition of atmospheric aerosols.
