Aerosol transport phenomena
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012849
The set of physical processes that govern the movement of aerosol droplets or particles from the point of generation to the point of analysis or detection. These processes include gravitational settling, inertial impaction, diffusion, and electrostatic interactions, which collectively determine the fraction of the sample that successfully reaches the instrument's atomizer or ion source. The transport efficiency, the ratio of the aerosol mass reaching the atomizer to the mass initially nebulized, is a key performance characteristic in atomic spectrometry techniques.
