Transport interference

Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012263

A physical interference in flame atomic spectrometry that changes how much desolvated sample reaches the flame per unit time, by altering the rate of liquid uptake, the nebulization efficiency or the fraction of aerosol that is desolvated. Differences in viscosity, surface tension or solvent between samples and standards cause it. It is classed as non-specific, because it affects all analytes in the solution by the same factor.
