Local fraction volatilized
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-006738
A ratio of the amount of analyte in the gaseous state, as free atoms, molecules and radicals, to the amount of analyte already desolvated, evaluated at a defined point in a flame such as the observation zone. It decreases as the desolvated particles get larger, because large dry aerosol particles volatilize incompletely. It is one factor in the overall efficiency of atomization, alongside the local fractions desolvated and atomized.
