Efficiency of atomization
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-003604
The fraction of the analyte introduced into an atomizer, such as a flame, that is present as free atoms at the observation height, compared with the amount aspirated. It depends on the temperature and chemical composition of the flame and on the volatility and stability of the compounds the analyte forms. Values lie between 0 and 1, and elements that form refractory oxides, such as aluminium and titanium, give low values in an air-acetylene flame.
