Solvent nucleation
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011028
The recondensation of solvent vapour onto solid particles or droplets carried in an aerosol. In sample introduction for atomic spectrometry, vapour from a nebulized solution recondenses onto particles or droplets as the aerosol cools in a spray chamber or transfer line. It differs from crystal nucleation in a supersaturated solution, which forms a new solid phase.
