Spontaneous termination
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-011244
A termination reaction in a chain polymerization that is a unimolecular process involving only the active center of a growing polymer chain. This process does not require interaction with a terminator, a monomer, a solvent molecule, or another polymer chain. Spontaneous termination is observed in some cationic polymerizations where the chain end rearranges to a non-propagating state.
