Catalytic chain termination
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001717
A process in polymerization where a catalyst facilitates the cessation of chain growth, often by transferring a hydrogen atom or other group to the propagating species. This leads to the formation of a dead polymer chain and regenerates the catalyst. It is a termination pathway distinct from bimolecular termination in radical polymerization.
