Catalytic antibody
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-001716
An antibody that possesses catalytic activity, also known as an abzyme. These molecules are typically engineered to bind to the transition state of a specific chemical reaction, thereby lowering its activation energy and accelerating the reaction rate. Abzymes demonstrate enzyme-like properties, including substrate specificity and saturation kinetics.
