Ultrasound-assisted extraction
Term · Chemistry · MLC-T-CHM-012402
A method that uses high-frequency sound waves to enhance the transfer of target compounds from a solid or liquid matrix into a solvent. The acoustic cavitation generated by the ultrasound creates microbubbles that collapse, producing localized high pressures and temperatures that disrupt cell walls and facilitate mass transfer. This technique can significantly reduce extraction times compared to conventional methods.
