Chemical diverter
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000647
A material pumped into a well during stimulation treatments to temporarily plug the most permeable zones or existing fractures. This action forces subsequent treatment fluids, such as acid or proppant slurry, into less permeable sections of the reservoir for more uniform stimulation. The diverter material, which can be solid particulates like benzoic acid flakes or a viscous fluid, degrades or dissolves in the wellbore fluids after the treatment, restoring full production.
