Diverting agent
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001134
A chemical or particulate material added to a treatment fluid to temporarily block fluid flow into highly permeable zones, thereby redirecting the fluid to less permeable areas of the reservoir. These agents are used in acidizing or fracturing operations to achieve more uniform treatment coverage. Common diverting agents include benzoic acid flakes, rock salt, or degradable polymers.
