Diverter flowmeter

A flowmeter for production or injection wells in which an inflatable or umbrella-style diverter forces the entire flow past a spinner in a reduced-diameter section, so the spinner sees the full rate at higher velocity. The diverter is collapsed while the tool moves between depths. It suits low flow rates in vertical wells, where a fullbore spinner would turn too slowly to give a reliable reading.
