Flowmeter
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004328
An instrument that measures the rate at which a fluid is moving through a pipe, conduit, or wellbore. In well intervention, flowmeters are run on wireline or coiled tubing to identify production or injection zones, diagnose leaks, and evaluate treatment effectiveness by measuring fluid velocity and direction. Common types include spinner flowmeters, which use a rotating impeller, and non-mechanical meters that use thermal or acoustic principles.
