Basket flowmeter

A production logging tool whose spring-loaded or inflatable basket opens against the casing to funnel the well stream through a spinner in a narrower section, so the impeller sees the full flow at raised velocity. The basket collapses for movement between depths. It is used mainly at low flow rates in vertical wells, where a fullbore spinner turns too slowly to read reliably.
