Shutoff valve

A type of valve designed primarily to completely stop the flow of fluid in a pipeline, rather than to regulate it. These valves are typically operated fully open or fully closed, providing a tight seal to isolate sections of a system for maintenance, emergency, or operational control. Gate valves, ball valves, and plug valves are common examples of shutoff valves used in oil and gas operations.
