Gate valve
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001647
A type of valve that uses a flat gate or wedge-shaped disc, which slides perpendicular to the flow path, to control the flow of fluid. When fully open, the gate is completely withdrawn into the valve body, providing a fullbore flow path with minimal pressure drop. Gate valves are primarily used for on-off service rather than throttling, and are common in wellhead assemblies and pipelines.
