A collection of seismic traces that share a common attribute, such as a common midpoint (CMP), common shot point (CSP), or common receiver point (CRP). These displays allow geophysicists to analyze seismic data for velocity analysis, amplitude variations with offset (AVO), and noise attenuation. Gathers are a fundamental step in seismic data processing before stacking.
