Common receiver gather

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000765

  1. A collection of seismic traces recorded by a single receiver from multiple source locations. This type of gather is used in seismic processing for quality control, noise analysis, and sometimes for velocity analysis. It provides insights into the seismic response at a specific receiver point from different illumination angles.

  2. A collection of seismic traces that share a common receiver location, but originate from different shot points. This display allows for analysis of how the subsurface reflects seismic energy to a single point. It is used in seismic data processing to identify and correct for near-surface effects and to analyze velocity variations.
