Common reflection point
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004273
The point on a subsurface reflector where seismic energy from multiple source-receiver pairs reflects before returning to the surface. This concept is central to seismic data processing, particularly in common midpoint (CMP) stacking, where traces with the same reflection point are combined to improve data quality. For dipping reflectors, the common reflection point is not directly beneath the common midpoint.
