CMP
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000719
A common midpoint gather, which is a collection of seismic traces that share a common reflection point in the subsurface. This technique is used in seismic data processing to enhance the signal-to-noise ratio and improve the imaging of subsurface structures. CMP gathers are sorted and stacked to create a single trace representing the subsurface reflection.
