Common midpoint method
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000763
A seismic acquisition and processing technique where multiple source-receiver pairs are used to record reflections from a common subsurface point. The data from these pairs are then gathered, corrected for normal moveout, and stacked to produce a single trace with an improved signal-to-noise ratio. This method is the basis for most modern reflection seismic surveys.
