Common offset

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000764

  1. A seismic data gather consisting of traces that all have the same source-receiver distance, or offset. These gathers are used in seismic processing to analyze amplitude variations with offset (AVO) or to perform specific filtering operations. Common offset sections can reveal information about fluid content and lithology.

  2. Describing a seismic data gather consisting of traces that all have the same source-receiver distance, or offset. These gathers are used in seismic processing to analyze amplitude variations with offset (AVO) or to perform specific filtering operations. Common-offset sections can reveal information about fluid content and lithology.
