Geophone offset
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001683
The horizontal distance between a seismic source point and a geophone receiver in a seismic survey. This distance is a key parameter in seismic data acquisition, influencing the angle at which seismic waves reflect from subsurface layers. Offset ranges from zero (vertical incidence) to several kilometers, providing information about subsurface velocities and rock properties.
