Zero-offset vertical seismic profile (VSP)
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004501
A type of well survey where a seismic source is placed as close as possible to the wellhead, and receivers are positioned at multiple depths inside the borehole. This configuration minimizes the horizontal distance traveled by the seismic waves, approximating a vertical travel path. The resulting zero-offset vertical seismic profile (VSP) provides a high-resolution image of the reflectors near the well and is used to correlate surface seismic data with well log information.
