Downhole source
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001155
A device lowered into a borehole to generate seismic energy for subsurface imaging. This source can be an air gun, a vibrator, or an explosive charge, creating acoustic waves that propagate into the surrounding rock.
