Gun
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001769
A seismic source device used to generate acoustic energy for marine seismic surveys. Air guns release compressed air into the water, creating a bubble that collapses and produces a seismic impulse. The array of guns is designed to shape the seismic wavelet for optimal penetration and resolution.
