Air gun
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000084
A seismic energy source used in marine geophysical surveys that generates a powerful acoustic pulse by rapidly releasing a volume of high-pressure air into the water. The sudden expansion of air creates a bubble that oscillates, producing a broadband seismic signal. Air guns are typically towed behind a vessel and fired at regular intervals.
