Walkaway vertical seismic profile (VSP)
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004075
A type of seismic survey where a seismic source is moved to progressively greater offsets along a line on the surface while receivers remain at a fixed depth in a wellbore. The recorded data from this walkaway Vertical Seismic Profile (VSP) are used to create a high-resolution 2D seismic image of the subsurface away from the well. This method provides better imaging of dipping beds and faults than a zero-offset VSP.
