Wall cake
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004076
A layer of drilling fluid solids deposited on the wellbore wall during drilling, formed by the filtration of the liquid phase of the mud into permeable formations. This filter cake reduces further fluid loss and stabilizes the borehole. Its thickness and permeability are measured to assess drilling fluid performance.
