Static filtration
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003592
The process of fluid loss from a drilling fluid into a permeable formation when the fluid is not circulating, such as during connections or trips. This occurs as the drilling fluid's liquid phase seeps into the rock, leaving behind a filter cake on the wellbore wall. It is measured in the laboratory using a static filter press.
