Filtration tester

A laboratory device used to measure the static filtration properties of a drilling fluid under specified temperature and pressure conditions. The apparatus, also known as a filter press, consists of a pressurized cell holding the mud sample against a filter medium and a graduated cylinder to collect the filtrate. The standard American Petroleum Institute (API) test applies 100 psi for 30 minutes, measuring the filtrate volume and the thickness of the resulting filter cake.
