HPHT filtration test
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001871
A laboratory procedure that measures the filtration characteristics of a drilling fluid under simulated downhole conditions of high pressure and high temperature. The test forces the fluid through a filter medium in a heated, pressurized cell, measuring the volume of filtrate collected over a specific time and the thickness of the resulting filter cake. Standard API test conditions are 500 psi differential pressure and a temperature relevant to the expected bottom-hole conditions, with results reported in milliliters lost over 30 minutes.
