Filter loss
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001400
The volume of filtrate that passes through a filter medium from a drilling fluid sample during a timed test, reported in milliliters. The low-pressure API test runs 30 minutes at 100 psi and ambient temperature, while the HTHP test commonly uses 500 psi differential pressure at an elevated temperature such as 300 degrees Fahrenheit. An HTHP result from the half-size cell is doubled to compare with the standard cell, since its filter area is half as large.
