Water loss
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004098
The volume of drilling fluid filtrate that invades a permeable formation from the wellbore, leaving behind a filter cake. Excessive water loss can lead to formation damage, differential sticking, and wellbore instability. It is measured in milliliters per 30 minutes under specific temperature and pressure conditions using a filter press.
