Filter cell

A component of a filter press or fluid loss testing apparatus, consisting of a cylindrical chamber where a drilling fluid sample is placed under pressure against a permeable filter medium. It is used to simulate the filtration process that occurs at the wellbore wall. The volume of filtrate collected and the thickness of the filter cake formed are measured to assess fluid loss properties.
