Cake thickness
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000513
The measured depth of the filter cake that forms on the wellbore wall during drilling operations. This layer of deposited solids from the drilling fluid controls fluid loss into permeable formations. A thin, impermeable filter cake is desirable for maintaining wellbore stability and minimizing formation damage, often measured in millimeters.
