Vertical seismic profile (VSP)
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004491
A technique where a seismic source on the surface generates signals recorded by geophones placed at many levels inside a wellbore. The resulting dataset provides a high-resolution seismic image of the subsurface in the immediate vicinity of the well. A vertical seismic profile (VSP) provides a direct correlation between seismic data and well log data and can be used to look ahead of the drill bit.
