True vertical thickness

The vertical distance between the top and bottom of a stratigraphic unit, measured along a vertical line. This value is often calculated from well log data and is used in conjunction with true stratigraphic thickness to account for dipping beds. It is a key parameter for reservoir characterization and reserve estimation.
