Shot point

The precise surface or subsurface location where an artificial energy source is detonated or activated for a seismic survey. The source can be an explosive charge, a vibrator truck on land, or an air gun in marine surveys. Shot points are carefully surveyed and mapped, forming a grid that determines the geometry of the seismic data acquisition.
