Grid

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001752

A network of regularly spaced points or lines used to organize spatial data for acquisition, processing, or interpretation. In seismic acquisition, the grid defines the locations for shot points and receivers, while in interpretation, it represents the set of coordinates where attributes like depth or amplitude are calculated and mapped. The spacing of the grid, for example 12.5 by 25 meters, determines the spatial resolution of the final dataset and its ability to image small geological features.
