A direction in a 3D seismic survey that runs parallel to the acquisition direction of the seismic source and receiver lines. Seismic data is typically organized into a grid of in-lines and cross-lines for interpretation. An in-line represents a vertical slice through the seismic volume along one of these acquisition directions.
