Shot depth
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003382
The vertical distance from the Earth's surface to the point where a seismic energy source is detonated or activated. This parameter is recorded during seismic data acquisition and is used in processing to correct for variations in travel time due to source elevation. Shot depth can range from a few meters for dynamite sources to near-surface for vibroseis trucks.
