Short-path multiple

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003381

A seismic reflection that has undergone more than one reflection path between the source, reflector, and receiver, with a relatively short travel path. These multiples arrive shortly after the primary reflections and can interfere with the interpretation of subsurface structures. Short-path multiples are often attenuated during seismic data processing using techniques like deconvolution.
