Simple multiple
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003418
A type of seismic multiple reflection where the seismic energy travels from the source to a reflector, then to a second reflector (often the free surface or a strong impedance contrast), and finally back to the receiver. This results in an event on the seismic record that arrives later than the primary reflection. Simple multiples are a common form of coherent noise in seismic data.
