Reflector

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003082

A geological interface within the Earth's subsurface that causes a portion of incident seismic energy to be reflected back towards the surface. These interfaces typically represent changes in acoustic impedance, such as boundaries between different rock types or fluid contacts. Reflectors are identified in seismic data as coherent events and are used to map subsurface stratigraphy and structure.
